What To Expect From a CompreMed IME

claimant-notification-letter0.jpgAs the subject of an Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) or a Functional Abilities Evaluation (FAE), you will be contacted by CompreMed with details about where and when your assessment will take place. The notification of your assessment will consist of two documents.

The first document gives you all of the information you need to know regarding the date, time and location of the assessment and what type of assessment you will be undergoing.  Any special instructions you should follow will also be in the letter, including who to contact with questions or concerns.

See the image at right to for a sample of the letter you will be receiving that has been marked up to explain the content - click on the image for a larger view.

The second document is a consent form that must be signed by you before the specialist can perform the assessment.  It is very important that you understand that they cannot proceed without your consent, however, if you attend the IME and do not provide a signed consent form, it is possible that a cancellation fee may be assessed to you by your insurer or employer.  To view the consent form that will be sent to you, you can download it by clicking this link:  Claimant or Employee IME consent form (pdf)
